Marble is a very soft product and over time if you do not apply a polish the finish will wear away. The finish on marble is totally different from granite. The shine on granite is a natural shine brought up by different grades of diamonds. The shine on marble is a chemical shine where is ground down so far then polished with acid, heat and water. . We really don’t like using acid in lived in houses. There is a product you can try called Italian Craftsman. Its a marble cleaner, sealer, and helps keep the shine on marble. You can purchase online at Granquartz .com. That may help hide the area somehat, wont fix it but may help.
